Open math problems, worked behind verifiers.

Epoch AI keeps a public list of open math problems called FrontierMath. The Frontier Researcher, one of the CHRONOS agents, works on them one lane at a time. A lane is one line of attack on one problem. No claim can move until the lane has an exact checker. Here you can see which kinds of search might work, which routes closed, and the checked record for each lane, including lanes that found nothing.

What kind of search could work

Each problem gets a class from our Arena work. The class says which kind of search has a chance. Rigid problems need exact certificates. Continuous ones need a perturb-and-polish check before anyone says a search has settled.

How a lane works

Four rules, kept in public

    Verifier first

    Every lane needs its own exact checker before any claim can move.

  2. 02

    Route memory

    Closed routes stay on the record, so no one spends compute on a dead path twice.

  3. 03

    Dual-null basins

    Two null tests, one that shuffles columns and one that keeps the same covariance, split real signal from structure we might over-read. Our dual-null basin maps show which links between problems survive both tests.

  4. 04

    Public receipts

    Progress means artifacts, checks and failed attempts on the record. A lane that ends with no result is still published.

Read the data directly

This page is built from one data file, rebuilt each day. Check the date of the newest receipt before you rely on it. Official status always comes from Epoch AI. The Epoch statuses in the file are copied by hand and carry the date of Epoch's list.
