# Scientific Discovery Ledger

> **Status**: Stage 3 (SWEEP) — 8 parallel research-agent sweeps in flight

## Purpose

Forensic survey of frontier AI-for-Science claims (chemistry, math, materials,
drug discovery, autonomous labs, physics ML) on 2024–2026 corpus. Excludes
protein folding (covered by the Bio/Protein ledger). Six closure audits:

1. Training-data overlap with target chemical / math / materials space
2. Experimental falsifiability (wet-lab / sim-lab verification)
3. Novel-target audit (claims outside known DB)
4. Hypothesis-vs-execution decoupling
5. Cross-disciplinary generalization
6. Independent wet-lab / numerical verification

## Empty-space hypothesis (predeclared before sweeps)

- **Bill 4 ★** — Wet-lab / experimental reproduction. ≥30% of claims survive independent verification. Predicted empty (cousin to Bio Bill 10 ★).
- **Bill 8 ★** — Cross-discipline-class generalization (chemistry → materials → math). Predicted empty.
- **Bill 11 ★** — Universal AI-scientist coverage (hypothesis + experiment + execution + verification + writeup). Predicted empty.

## Bridge tests

Scientific Discovery is the **18th ledger** and provides the **deepest
single test of B4's substrate-conditional framing** — chemistry diffusion,
materials GNNs, and math autoregressive models operate on three distinct
non-autoregressive substrates within the same ledger.
